My train loving son has anaphylactic (life threatening) food allergies, so a lot of my time is spent cooking and meal prepping for him (I’ll share some yummy recipes that are dairy, pea, lentil, and chickpea free).

Most of my struggle is with my marriage (still not sure how that is going to end up) and from worrying too much as a mom. I will also share some parenting hits and misses, experiences growing up and living as a minority in America, and important health and healthcare information (I work as a Nurse Practitioner in Oncology). I counsel friends/family/patients and hope to honor them and their struggles and lives with this blog. But, I’m on journey to a better self and want to share the struggles, tears, and joy with the hope that it can help others. I’m an open book to my friends and family, but it’s a bit nerve wracking to be posting online. If we did, my hope is that we would be more compassionate and kind to each other.

Full steam ahead.Įveryone has a struggle, but we don’t share them enough. I had been reflecting on how I lost myself and what I need to do to get myself back when my 4 year old son randomly started moving his arms like train wheels and said, “Mom, move your arms like this and chugga like a train.” I looked back at him in amazement wondering how he could’ve known what I needed to hear. A 38 year old Asian American who lost her free spirit in marriage and motherhood.
